The daisies are from the family Asteraceae. They are perennial plants. They are originally tropical. There are many varieties of 'Daisies', which are available these days. Most of them bear flowers once a year. They bear flowers in a bloom. They do not require much care and hence they are easy to grow in the garden without much care. Therefore the people who do not have much time for applying fertilizers or pesticides they are the best options.

The most common varieties that are in use are the Shasta Daisy; a perennial, and the African Daisy; annual.

Planting

You can bring the seeds of these plants and plant them. They will appear within two three weeks. Once they grow, they will remain for many years. They go on multiplying because of vegetative propagation and it will cover the entire available space. If you want, you can take some of them and plant them in a different place. This you better may do regularly after each four years, which would prevent the crowding. This will result in better blooming every year. The flowers will be of bigger sizes.

The soil requirements

It requires a soil that has a good content of nutrients. In addition, the porosity of the soil must be good. The planting should receive good sunlight. However, this is not a compulsion and the plant will grow even in ordinary conditions of soil and sunlight.

You should add the fertilizers like the starting fertilizers during the initial period of growth, and just before the flowering. Provide the fertilizers containing phosphorous.

Pests

The insects do not attack the daisies and other diseases. As given above they do not need spraying of fertilizers or pests. Only some cases the pests may attack them. Then you can spray them at the primary stage itself.

Advantages

Once you plant them, you will get the flowers each year regularly each year and all this you will get without any efforts. They provide flowers numbers. These flowers last for some days. Therefore you can keep them in the vases or bouquets and they will last for someday.
