Dog Kennel Flooring

The main purpose of building a dog kennel is to keep the pet in a cozy and comfortable environment. Today, every dog owner is concerned about their comfort and ease. This can be achieved by building a comfortable and well designed kennel. Flooring the kennel is as important as building the house. Placing a dog in a discomfort floor can cause bigger problems in the later stage. Therefore flooring is essential to provide comfort, health and happiness to the pet.

Cement Flooring:

There are different materials that can be used as dog kennel floor. Cement flooring is one of the most recommended surfaces for the dog kennel. Cement flooring is widely used because of its easy cleaning process and long lasting capacity. The surface can be cleaned easily by a dry cloth or a broom and then flushing with a blow of water. The cement surface do not have problem related to its maintenance. A simple cement floor can last for number of years. But cement surface might bring discomfort to the pets during summer season, as it gets hotter with the elevation in temperature. Some breeds of dogs are found to be uncomfortable with cement surfaces. To overcome this problem, a concrete paved block bordered with crushed stones can be build.

Wood Flooring:

Wood flooring is another good way of providing a comfortable base to the pet. The only problem with wood flooring is that it needs special care and treatment throughout the period. If it is not treated properly, it may lead into many problems. A special care has to be taken so that it is waterproof as well as stain and odor resistant. Dog's urine and excrement has to be washed out constantly or else the pet would keep repeating the process every time. To clean urine or feces off of wood surface, following steps should be followed

* Clean the surface with paper towels. Use a solution of mild soap and water to clean the area.

* Remove the traces of soap with clean water

* Dry with old cloth

* Spray an enzyme inhibitor and wipe the area thoroughly.
