Dovetail Drawer Boxes

The Dovetail Drawer construction is now considered as an important part of cabinet construction because of its high resistance to wear and its durability. It has been noticed that there is a huge segment of buyers who put quality above everything while getting their drawers fixed make it a point to ask specially for dovetail drawers.

Dove tail drawer boxes are used for a widely used for storage purposes. They are generally made out of soft maple. Standard hard maple, birch, read oak, cherry, hickory, white oak, walnut, clear pine, white ash, hardboard or white melamine are the range of materials that can be used for the bottom panel. When you order for such boxes you must provide the carpenters with the actual drawer sizes.

The measurements of the smallest drawer boxes that are generally made are 4 1/2″ in width, 5″ in depth and 2″ in height and the dimensions of the maximum size is 48″ in width ,48″ in depth and 12″ in height. These measurements may vary between companies but they are more or less the same. The standard depth for drawers is 21″ and 18″.

The standard depths for drawer boxes are 21 3/4 and 19 3/4|”. It is advisable to have drawers made within these parameters since its easier to handle such dimensions and at the same time it would also provide sufficient space for storage. These drawers provide you with an easy access to things in the kitchen, workspace or bathrooms.

Generally in all work spaces they are preferred over huge cabinets since they can be easily built along with tables. They can also be used in your bed room ob the dressing table to neatly arrange all the jewellery.

They can be made with many different cabinets so you would have different spaces for you earrings, safety pins, rings, bracelets, bangles, necklaces, chains etc. They can also be used in the kitchens for storing spices or in your work space or office for arranging files or other important documents in a neat manner. Next time you go shopping for drawer boxes don’t forget to specify ‘dove tail’ drawer boxes.

When measuring Drawer Boxes, figure the width at 1 ” less than the opening.

Figure the height at 3/4″ less than then the opening.
