Food To Attract Birds

There are many birds visiting in your backyard. You should provide them with the appropriate food to keep them attracted to your backyard. Providing a wide variety and a rich quality of food cannot stop the birds from visiting your backyard.

Most of the birds are the lovers of sunflower seeds. You can use the seeds of the sunflower for attracting the birds to a greater extent. You can also purchase the wild bird seeds from the market for attracting the wild bird seeds. Small bits of sand grit and gravel can be used for feeding the birds. Sounding strange? But it's the truth. This helps them in grinding up their food.

Hard fat called Suet is an excellent source of energy for the birds during the cold season. Corn meal or flowers can be mixed with the soft fat such as peanut butter for absorbing the grease. See to it that the grease is absorbed completely, or else the bird may clog its nostrils, choke or rub its feathers off.

Sometimes, you can also give a special feast to the birds. The special feast for the birds include cracked nuts, shelled peanuts, different fruits like half-cut oranges or apples, raisins that are soaked in water, corn, hemp, millet as well as thistle seeds. Avoid giving them bread or bread crumbs. It does not provide them with any energy or nutrition.

You can be more creative while feeding the birds. Try and discover yourself which food will attract the birds in larger numbers. For this you will have to try out a variety of foods in the beginning. You can try popped popcorn but without salt and butter, peanut hearts, seeds of different fruits like that of water melon, apples, guava, etc, mealworms, grapes, pieces of some fruits, etc. Once you discover the choice of food of the specific birds, then it is very easy to attract those birds to your backyard by using those foods.

Along with the food, water is also an important necessity for the birds. They need adequate water for drinking, bathing and washing. Provide them with large amount of fresh and clean water, as well.
