Garden Hand Tools

There are different tools used for the gardening. The tools can be classified as hand tools and power tools. The hand tools are the tools that the gardener can operate with hand without then use of heat and electricity. Hand tools are the implements without using any motor, but it is wholly powered by the individual using it.

The different hand tools that are used in the garden are:

* Trowel- it is a pointed tool with a handle and a blade that has a shape like that of a scoop. It is used to dig smaller holes in the ground and for breaking the earth at the time of planting and weeding.

* Scissors- a scissor is equipment that is used by the gardener for cutting.

* Loppers- it is a kind of scissor that is used for pruning the smaller branches and the twigs. The handle of the loppers is around 65cm long for giving a better leverage. Some loppers may have telescopic handles whose length can be increased upto 2 meters. This is for increasing the leverage as well as to reach the higher branches of the trees.

* Scythe- it is a hand tool that is used for mowing the grass and reaping the crops.

* Hoe- a hoe is used in the garden to remove the unwanted crops and the grasses. It is one of the important implements used for farming by hand. It consists of a sharp blade made of steel, iron or aluminum that is attached to a long handle made up of wood. There are many types of blades used for the hoe which can be used for a number of purposes.

* Pruning Shears- these are the cutting equipments having a double blade. They are small in size and need to be kept oiled. The blades of the pruning shears are inn accordance with the handle to give a better prune to the plants.

* Spade- the primary use of the spade is to dig or remove the earth. They are generally made of iron and have a very sharp tip to dig efficiently.
