Now you will be amazed to know that any type of plants can be grown in pots whether they are classified as shrubs, trees or even herbs. Any type of plants can be grown for a lifetime in a pot. The growing of plants in pots is a little advantageous then the permanent plantings with respect to the aspect of mobility of containers. The movement of the containers is important since the seasons change due to the apparent movement of the sun. You can move the plants which are in full bloom into the limelight, or in the background. The most important thing for you to remember when growing the plants in the pots is that these potted plants now depend upon you for their basic necessities of life like water and feed. The main reason for this is that the amount of soil present in the pots is limited and so the roots are restricted and exposed to far more elements then before. When you grow the plants in pots you can grow a plant which is naturally growing in the acidic soil in the alkaline soil.

The points you should consider when the plant is in a pot:

When the plants are in a pot then you have to pay a close attention to the health of the plant when it is potted. You have to make sure that these plants are watered regularly. To determine whether there is water in the soil of the pot then you have to follow a simple procedure stick your finger in the pot if is dry the water the plant thoroughly. Note that frequent watering will wash out the minerals and the nutrients of the soil this will be harmful to the plants.

You have to regularly replenish the soil with nutrients since the plant will use the limited nutrients which are available so follow a regular feeding program. This regular feeding program depends on the type of plants.

Ideally you can give an organic fertilizer which releases the nutrients slowly through out the growing season of the plants. Also use a water soluble fertilizer which will directly give nutrients to the plants once a week.

Choose an ideal container for the plants generally use medium size container made of clay. Why to use the pots made up of clay. Since these pots have their pores open they provide good aeration to the roots. Note that roots also need oxygen even when they are underground.

These are the few tips which are useful for the gardeners in true sense of the word.
