The showrooms are seen decorated with beautiful plates made from earthenware, glass, durable plastics and sometimes even crystal. With the high speed life of today, disposable paper plates and dishes are almost indispensible and are generally used for casual eating. In olden days wooden dishes, pewter plates and dishes made from animal skull were in existence!

Historical Ports Of England on the dinnerware are usually antique items which have seen many generations. Historical Ports Of England Dinnerware series usually contains a basic set of dinnerplates, salad plates, bread and butter plates, soup or cereal bowls, cups and saucers.

The beautiful ports handpainted or printed on the plates, dishes and saucers are a great attraction for people having an interest in antique collection. Some of these items include a bread and butter plate which comes under the series of Historical Ports of England.

They are painted with blue on white, like the old transferwares and the center has a port scene with vessels and ships sailing against the waves. The rim of this piece is lined with a floral theme. These dishes are hard, lightweight and durable. They won't stand a fall from a high chair but they are definitely an eye-catcher when seated on the dining!

The unique enamels used during the decorating process actually become part of the glass so that the patterns last as long as the plate's lifetime. Soft patterns and prints are available in solid or contrasting colors giving a casual and elegant look adding depth and drama to the dining.

Mix and match of the colors and a variety of sets can create a dining table that has the guests eyes glued on to it! Most of the pieces in this Historical Ports Of England collection are white in color, most often made of china or ceramic and painted in streaks of blue depicting the waves and vessels floating.

They are more often meant to be showpieces on the table setting due to their excellent looks, than used as vessels for serving food. They are not safe to be used in dishwashers as they are fragile and may break on hard handling, moreover only few types of pieces in this collection are safe to use in ovens.
