How To Start A Dog Kennel

There is a very old saying that a dog is a man's best friend. If man can live in a house and have his very own privacy and relaxation, then there is no reason why his best friend cannot have it. It very well seen that a dog his own special food, a custom made dress that acts like his collar, many dogs also have their special hand crafted bed. A dog house is known as a kennel. It is a place where the dog can sleep during nights and relax when he is not in a mood to play. Now days there are many types of kennel's available in the market for dogs. It is wise and also a cheaper affair to make one's own kennel at home according to the dogs needs and size.

Building a kennel:

Buying custom made kennels for the dogs is a very costly affair. Hence, it is very much sensible for one to build a kennel according to ones own dog size and likes. Dog kennels should be built in such a way that it is convenient for the master to reach it easily and it should be comfortable for the pet. Hence, it makes the kennel much more hygienic. The location is very important in building or setting up a kennel in a house or any place. The kennel should be well designed for ventilation and drainage. The flooring of the kennel must be made up of wires instead of plastic or wood as it easy to clean and also does not cause any kind of injury to the pet. For making multi tiered kennels, concrete can also be used. The advantage of using concrete is that it is very easy to clean. For better drainage system, one can make the kennel sloppy so that the water flows out of the kennel easily.

Other things to keep in mind:

The timber should be well painted in each and every part as it may lead to dry rot if not painted properly. Also, the kennel should be spacious enough for the pets to enter and exit the kennel easily without any kind of problems. The timber used for the kennel should not be treated with any kind of insecticide. This might prove harmful for the pet as they tend to chew a lot.
