Dinner ware is one of the most essential things that no home can do without. Every home has at least two dinnerware sets. Dinnerware come in different models and designs and even make. There are some dinnerwares that are factory made which can be used everyday at homes during lunch or dinner.

Then there are exclusive varieties which are taken out and used only during special family dinners like when celebrating special occasions like anniversaries or during Christmas.

You also have exquisite dinnerware which is kept in many homes as decoration pieces because they are exclusively handcrafted and can also be very expensive and one of the kind. These types of exclusive dinnerware are meant only to be kept as show pieces as they are so very beautiful that they give the home décor a magnificent and elegant look.

Italian dinnerware is one dinnerware which is quite sought after by many people for their homes. In Italian dinnerware you have the famous Majolica dinnerware. The dinnerware got its name because in the early days during the 13th century, it was through the port of Majorca that tin glazed ceramics were being imported.

Majolica is the English name for Majorca. Most of the Majolica dinnerware follow classic patterns featuring arabesque which is a classic pattern from the Deruta based calligraphic patterns of the 17th century and they mostly feature two plump birds which are normally surrounded by different flowers and foliage.

Italian dinnerware features pieces like plates, platters, pasta bowls, Tea pots, Mugs, Sugar and creamer bowls etc and all of them have exclusive patterns.

The Majolica Italian dinnerware also have another Deruta based classic design called the new Fruta designs where six different fruits like lemons, pears, pomegranates, cherries, blueberries and grapes which have an oatmeal coloured background are featured.

Some of the Italian dinnerware feature roosters and are called Gali which is Italian for rooster. A rooster is considered as a symbol for prosperity, good health and good wishes and dinnerware with Gali designs is a great favourite among many Italian households.

This type of dinnerware is not like Chinese porcelain and is quite fragile and not recommended to be used for microwave cooking and in ovens.
