Birds are also living things, alike us. They have a specific pattern of communicating and fulfilling their needs. We can term this as their behavior. It is not a difficult task to know their behavior. It only requires some skill and a lot of patience. Firstly, you have to master the skill of observation. Keep on observing their behavior for a long time and then you have to discover why they might behave in the way that they do?

No task is as easy and enjoyable than learning to know a birds behavior. You only need a diary, a pen and enough of patience. Binoculars may prove beneficial but are not so necessary. Visit your backyard frequently for observing the different birds. Write brief notes about all their activities for increasing your familiarity with the different species. Go through the notes, name the birds and this will help in recognizing the bird the next time you see it.

Know the different behavior of the birds:

* The small chickens peck at the parent's bill for stimulating their parent to regurgitate the food in their mouth.

* The crows will knowingly throw the nuts on the road so that they can be shelled by the cars passing on them. He is intelligent enough to move the nut if he finds that the first car has missed it.

* The nesting birds on the ground like the plovers have many strategies to protect their young ones from the predators. As soon as they see some threat, they move away quietly to a safe place and then pretend to hatch.

* Birds can also show emotions like love and friendship. On the death of their companion, you will find the birds staying on the ground near the body for sometime, making piteous cries and then they hardly eat, fly or groom themselves for a few days as if they are very sad and depressed.

You will find many such interesting facts once you start observing the birds carefully and regularly. You will also come to know about their specific behavior at specific times.
