Locking Swivel Casters

The swivel casters are used for moving the heavy furniture from one place to the other. However, while moving them most of the times problems with moving them in the straight directions arise. Moreover, in some cases they swivel unwontedly. Therefore, for overcoming these problems locking Swivel casters are helpful.

These casters consist of locking system as the spring locking. This spring directs the caster in the straight direction only. Therefore, it tends to retard the movement in the other directions. Because of this while moving the casters they keep on moving in the straight direction. Therefore, only the non-intentional turning from the locking Swivel casters would be eliminated.

However, this lock is soft and light and it retards only the natural and non-intentional turning of the caster wheels. Because of this, if when we want to change the direction, we can do so easily by applying force in that direction. Locking Swivel casters would thus easily move in the direction that we desire.

Further, these locks have options whether we have to make them active or not. If they are made active then they will lock whenever the caster wheels are not applied with a force from one side. Similarly, whenever we have to change the direction these locks are temporarily deactivated by the application of more force.

In addition to these locks, the other types of locks are also used for the casters. These are the ones in which the wheels are locked and they do not move at all. This is useful in cases where we do not wish the things on which they are attached, to move. This fixes them to the same place. The controls for activation and deactivation of these locks are simple.

The locking Swivel casters are bit more costly than the simple casters. However, this price difference is not worth consideration. Therefore, most of the casters, which are available in the market, are the locking Swivel casters. The automatic locking Swivel casters should be handled carefully. This is because the locking system is a bit delicate. However, this is not a reason for too much worry, as it is possible to repair it, if damaged.

The applications where only locking Swivel casters should be used, include the carts in the shops, in hospitals, restaurants, etc.
