Nector Plants For Humming Birds

Hummingbirds is native to Americas. This bird is actively small in figure which belongs to Trochilidate family. Hummingbird has an ability to fly in air with a speed by flapping their wings. Its speed is near about 15-80 times per second. This bird can flay backward, this is the specialty of Hummingbird also can fly vertical. It maintains certain position, when it used to eat or drink nectar from flower. Hummingbird get name from its humming sound while flying.

Every bird needs diet to survive, Hummingbird need nectar and other small insects. There are various plants which can provide nectar to Hummingbird. It is necessary to take care of bloom of plant so that it is available for Hummingbird. It is also necessary to take care of them, so that Hummingbird gets attracted towards them. It is very good practice to keep these plants near window so that birds view will be better.

Synthetic Nectar is also available which is provided by artificial feeders. These feeder allow people to see and enjoy close up view of Hummingbird while taking nectar. It is also possible to make nectar at home, for which one has to take 1 part of white sugar pour it in 4 parts of water. After that boil it, so that it gets dissolve, then purify the solution. This homemade nectar then poured in feeder. Generally Red feeders are preferred by Hummingbird. One should avoid using honey in feeder, which makes bacteria dangerous to hummingbirds. No artificial sweeteners should be added in feeder.

Nectar acts as a food for Hummingbird, which can be available from flowers, home gardens, shrubs. Nectar food gives instant energy, while insect prey makes muscle growth. Hummingbird likes plants having red color, orange color or red-orange color blossoms. Plants which likes by Hummingbird are bleeding heart, lupine, petunias, phlox.

In Summer Season there are Plants like dahlia, zinnia, butterfly bush, beard tongue, scarlet gilia. Hummingbirds used to eat nectar of horse chestnut, crabapple trees and hawthorne. Hummingbird prefers vines like morning glory, trumpet creeper, scarlet runner.
