The plants that grow from the seeds of are the seedlings. Seedlings are the plants in young condition. Planting the seedlings of the trees is the most convenient method for plantation of trees. The seeds are easily available and you just need to sow them in the soil, and they grow themselves without much care, as is needed for the vegetative propagation methods. This method is useful for the seed producing plants only. Most of the plants produce seeds in great numbers, and therefore from a single plant you can produce a number of plants.

You can sow the seeds in the places where you desire them to grow or you can also primarily sow them in seedbeds or pots where you can control the conditions. If you do so, then when they grow into seedlings you can plant them elsewhere. You can even get the ready seedlings directly from the nurseries.

Selecting seeds for planting

You should take the seeds of the plants that have good health and give a good number and quality of fruits. This is because the offsprings, i.e. is the seedlings will resemble their parents in genetic make up and therefore have the same characteristics as the parents.

Sowing the seeds

The seeds require moist and warm conditions for germination. In addition to this, they also need nutrients for growth after germination. Therefore, while sowing them you should take care that the soil will satisfy these requirements. This will produce good seedlings.

Care of the seedlings

When the seedlings develop from the seeds, they require proper care. Provide them adequate water, sun, and fertilizers. Protect them from the physical damages like birds, animals, excessive water, etc.

Replanting the seedlings

When the seedlings achieve proper growth so that they are in a condition for the transplantation, you can transplant them in a permanent place. While replanting them you should take care that the roots do not have any type of damage. Take some of the soil too, along with the seedlings when replanting. Also, take into account the conditions in the new place, and see whether they will satisfy their requirements. Ideally, the place should be similar to the primary place where the seedlings have developed.
