The orchard is the plantation of fruit trees for getting fruits, though on a smaller scale, generally for the commercial purpose. Although, it is a commercial practice, you can also practice it in your house backyard. Even if there is not enough space in the backyard, you can plant some trees, which will satisfy your need for fruits. In addition to this, it can enhance the beauty of your house, similar to the gardens. This is possible, as many types of fruit trees in addition to providing fruits also look very beautiful

Planting trees

While planting select proper varieties of plants that will grow well and provide good quality, and quantity of fruits. While planting take care that the plant will grow comfortably. Therefore, the place where you are going to plant, should have good texture of soil, receive direct sun, and should have moderate water holding capacity. If the soil is deficient in nutrients, you should add some artificial fertilizers. This will facilitate good growth of the plants. You should also take into account that the plants should not need to face any competition for nutrients, space, sunlight, or water etc.

While planting the orchards you must remember that you are planting in the house and therefore proper plan is necessary for making use of the limited space of the house. It should enhance the beauty of the house's surroundings and even then, it should make full use of the available space.

Maintenance of the orchards

The plants in the orchards need proper care throughout their life if, you wish to receive good fruits.

Therefore provide them water, fertilizers, and sunlight, as per their requirements, throughout their life. In addition to this, you should also take prevention, and cure measures for the pests and diseases, that may affect them.

In addition to these basic requirements for the plants, you should regularly do the things like pruning cutting, mulching, etc. These things enhance the growth of the plants, and improve their health. However, while cutting, and pruning you should be careful that, it does not harm the plants.

You can also improve the yield by artificial pollination.

Harvesting

You should harvest only when the fruits are completely ready. While harvesting, you should not harm the plant by cutting of more leaves, or branches, along with the fruits.

If you take these steps, then you can grow and maintain a good home orchard.
