Soil preparation is an essential task to be done carefully before planting trees in home orchard. This is important because the home orchard trees must withstand in all climatic conditions for longer period of time and must yield healthy produce. You must check the planting location for any plastic, lime stone etc found in soil. This will affect the growth of trees and hence must be removed. The clayey or water logged soil will damage the root and so you should correct them by adding sandy soil to the ground. A mixture of sandy soil and clayey soil will be more effective.

Then you should arrange for shaping the bed so that water will not stand in one place. You can test the soil and can add fertilizer accordingly. You should take soil analysis to check its pH value. You can enrich the soil with organic or inorganic fertilizers to grow healthy trees. You can make holes in the soil several times more than that of root ball. Then you can fill the hole with the same soil you remove to make a hole. This will provide good result. You can add organic materials to the entire bed which will help to grow the plant healthy. You should apply fertilizer evenly on soil. But do not use excessive fertilizer until the tree grows fully.

Soil preparation for flowering trees in home orchard is necessary since the nutrient soil can help the tree to yield healthy flowers. Check the soil for its moisture. If you can make a ball of the soil then the soil is too wet. On the other hand if it falls to pieces then the soil is totally dry. So prepare the soil correctly by taking little effort. You can mix manure to the soil and then make it fertile.

Soil should contain sufficient phosphorous and iron to develop strong roots in the tree. You can add organic manure like kitchen wastes, egg shells, leaf decays etc which will improve the soil. Mix the manure with soil you have removed to make a hole for planting. Then fill the hole with this soil so that your tree can survive in any condition.
