Trimming a tree means pruning it in the correct time. You must remove all the broken and damaged branches from the trees in home orchard. This is very important process in home orchard. Trimming flower trees at the correct time is very important because trimming the tree when it has flower buds will damage the flowers. Every year you can trim the flower tree after 3 weeks of blossom finish.

Trimming trees in right place is also important because untrained persons may cut too much of stub when they cut the branches. This will allow many disease causing germs enter the tree. You should take care not to spoil the trunk. Otherwise fungus will occur in trees.

You may like to trim the trees because the wide branches may disturb other trees. Trimming will also help to remove the parts of tree that has disease. Removing such parts will help the tree to grow continuously. Late winter and early spring is the best time for trimming trees. Before starting the trimming work wear goggles to protect your eyes. You should also remember that over trimming will affect the growth of the tree.

Normally winter trimming should be avoided. But in maple trees and apple trees winter trimming is advisable. You can trim the broken branches, low limbs, crossing braches, crowded limbs etc.

You must decide the trimming area first and then select the appropriate tool. This will ease your trimming work. You can use any tool that is sharp. You can make alternate cuts in the branch. This will help to finish the trim work quickly. Most experts specify not to use paints in the newly cut area since the tree can heal itself naturally. The paint will delay the healing.

However tree trimming is important to grow healthy trees. If you are a beginner then cut the collars of the branch that means not to cut the limb too short or too long. Do not cut the major branches as this will affect the growth of a tree. Any improper technique used in trimming will hurt your tree. You should take some safety measures to protect yourself also. Do not climb with sharp tools in hand. If you want to trim major branches then get it done with professionals.
