Watering trees in your home orchard is a must but you should consider the amount of water required by every tree. Too much of watering is not good. Likewise lack of enough water is also not good. You should water the established tree in root. This will help to spread the water to all parts of the tree. But a young tree requires more water to grow. You can Water young trees in the trunk areas. Once the tree begins to mature you can reduce the frequency of watering.

You can water the trees in the early morning. This will be good as after noon watering will get evaporated soon due to exposure to sun light. You can also water the trees in the evening but you should remember that watering the foliage will form mild dew and fungus that will affect the growth of the tree.

You should not water the tree fast as it will cause soil erosion. You can sprinkle water gently up to the amount that can be absorbed by the soil. You can allow the soil to dry before watering. This will help the soil to absorb oxygen easily. You can mulch the tree to keep the root cool so that water will not be evaporated soon.

You can water the trees according to the weather condition. Trees can not survive without water. Particularly young trees need frequent watering. You can prevent over watering of trees by taking some careful measures.

Lack of water will provide more stress to the trees. Some old trees will lose their leaves due to lack of water. You can use sprinklers to water the trees so that young trees will not be damaged. You can apply one or two inches of water to trees. If you are growing trees in lawn area, check whether the trees receive sufficient water. This is because lawn grass will absorb more water all the time.

If you water excessively then the soil moisture will drive oxygen from the soil. It will cause root death. SO you should whether the soil is moistly but not logged on water. Frequent watering is needed for new trees for two to three years. You can use soaker hose to water the trees.
